5 useful network troubleshooting commands in Linux

Here are five commands that you can use to troubleshoot network issues in Linux.

  1. ifconfig: the ifconfig command is used to view and configure network interface parameters.
  2. netstat: The netstat command is used to display network connections, routing tables, and other network statistics.
  3. tcpdump — capture and analyze network traffic in Linux
  4. ping: The ping command is used to test network connectivity by sending ICMP echo requests to a remote host and waiting for a response.
  5. nslookup: The nslookup command is used to query DNS servers for information about a domain name or IP address. It can be used to resolve domain names to IP addresses, check DNS server settings, and troubleshoot DNS-related issues.
